    Bacopa

Bacopa monnieri is a perennial, creeping herb native to the wetlands of India. It has been used for centuries in traditional Ayurvedic medicine. It has been clinically researched and used for centuries to support brain and nerve function. Bacopa may increase certain brain chemicals that are involved in thinking, learning and memory. In general, although it takes some time to take effect (4-6 weeks), Bacopa appears to be effective in improving memory and other mental functions in both healthy individuals and those in cognitive decline[1].

    GABA

GABA is an inhibitory neurotransmitter because it blocks certain brain signals and decreases nervous system activity. When GABA binds to a protein in your brain (GABA receptor), it produces a calming effect, which can help relieve feelings of anxiety, stress and fear[2]. Many clinical studies have been done on the effects of GABA. One study found that GABA helped improve concentration and motor function in children with ADHD, compared to typically developing children[3].GABA promotes mental relaxation, regulates mood, and provides quick and temporary relief from feelings of tension, stress and anxiety.

    L-Theanine

L-Theanine is an amino acid found in tea leaves. First identified by Japanese scientists in 1949, L-Theanine reduces psychological and physiological stress reactions[4]. A calming effect is usually seen within 30 to 40 minutes of taking L-Theanine at a dose of 50 to 200 mg. This calming effect usually lasts 6-8 hours[5].

L-Theanine contributes to several changes in the brain that promote relaxation and calm.

It increases the level of GABA, serotonin and dopamine in the brain. These neurotransmitters work in the brain to regulate emotions, mood, concentration, alertness and sleep, as well as appetite, energy and other cognitive abilities. Increased levels of GABA, serotonin and dopamine in the body lead to reduced anxiety and increased concentration and calmness[6].

L-Theanine is also thought to help inhibit the effects of epinephrine (stress hormone) as well as block glutamate (excitatory neurotransmitter) receptors.
